About the Opportunity
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Accountant who is keen to begin a career in accountancy and finance.
This role would ideally suit someone who has recently completed their A-Levels with good grades, has a strong educational background, or has recently graduated from university and is looking for a work placement to gain practical experience.
No previous experience is preferred, as full training and practical work experience will be provided. We are particularly interested in candidates who are eager to learn, have a positive attitude and are committed to developing their knowledge and skills within the accountancy profession.
Candidates who are currently studying towards an AAT qualification, or who are interested in pursuing one, are also encouraged to apply.
The Role and Responsibilities
As a Trainee Accountant, you will receive on-the-job training and gain hands-on experience across a range of accounting duties, with the opportunity to develop and progress as your skills and confidence grow.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with bookkeeping and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Learning to prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Assisting with the preparation of VAT returns.
- Supporting the preparation of tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Processing invoices, payments and other financial transactions.
- Carrying out bank reconciliations and other routine accounting tasks.
- Assisting with general accounting and administrative duties.
- Learning to use accounting software and financial systems.
- Working alongside experienced professionals to develop your technical knowledge and practical skills.
As you gain experience, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and progress in bookkeeping, accounts preparation, VAT and taxation.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has achieved good grades at A-Level or holds a university degree.
- Is keen to start a career in accountancy and finance.
- Has little or no previous work experience and is enthusiastic about learning.
- Has good numerical skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Is organised, reliable and able to manage tasks effectively.
- Has a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Is confident using computers and willing to learn new systems.
- Can communicate professionally and work well as part of a team.
- Is interested in developing their skills and potentially pursuing an AAT or other accountancy qualification.
Recent school leavers, university graduates and candidates looking for their first professional placement are particularly encouraged to apply.

Salary and Working Hours
- Salary: £24,784.50 per annum (£12.71 per hour).
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
- Working days: Monday to Friday.
- Working hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.
- Start date: As soon as possible for the right candidate.
