Head Chef – Award-Winning Resort & Spa
Location: Near Holsworthy, Devon
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Accommodation: Live-in accommodation available
Hours: 40 hours per week, with up to 45 hours paid during peak periods
We are looking for an experienced Head Chef to join an award-winning resort and spa near Holsworthy, Devon, on a permanent, long-term basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented Head Chef or experienced Senior Sous Chef looking to take the next step in their career and join an established, successful hospitality business.
You will take overall responsibility for the kitchen operation, leading a small and established team while working closely with the management team to maintain high standards and develop the food offering.
This is a long-term permanent position, ideal for someone looking to build their career within a well-established resort rather than a seasonal role.
Key Responsibilities- Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Lead, motivate and develop the kitchen team
- Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and service
- Plan and develop menus
- Manage food purchasing, stock control and supplier relationships
- Monitor food costs and GP margins
- Manage kitchen rotas and labour costs
- Train and develop junior chefs
- Ensure full compliance with Food Hygiene, HACCP and Health & Safety requirements
- Maintain excellent kitchen cleanliness and organisation
- Work closely with management to develop and improve the food operation
- Lead by example and create a positive, professional kitchen environment
You will be supported by an established team consisting of:
- 1 × Sous Chef
- 1 × Day Sous Chef – breakfast and lunch service, 4 days per week
- 1 × Chef de Partie
- 1 × Apprentice Chef
The existing structure provides a strong foundation for the successful Head Chef to focus on leadership, standards, menu development and the continued growth of the food operation.
Working Hours- 40 hours per week as standard
- Up to 45 hours paid during peak trading periods
- Any additional hours accrued are taken back as TOIL (Time Off In Lieu)
One-bedroom self-contained accommodation is available for the successful candidate.
The accommodation includes:
- One bedroom
- Small kitchen
- Bathroom with shower
For the right candidate relocating with a family, larger accommodation may also be available.
About YouWe are looking for a chef who is passionate about food, confident leading a team and ready to take ownership of a busy kitchen.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Head Chef, or strong Senior Sous Chef experience with the ambition to step up
- Experience running a busy kitchen operation
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Excellent stock control and ordering experience
- Good understanding of food costs and GP margins
- Strong knowledge of Food Hygiene, HACCP and Health & Safety
- A genuine passion for producing high-quality food
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A hands-on approach and the ability to lead from the front
- A commitment to building a long-term career with the business
