Job Description:
Our client who specialises in green technology are seeking either a Laboratory Technician or Senior Laboratory Technician (dependent on qualifications and experience) to join their team on a permanent basis.
What we offer:
- £25,000-£35,000 DOE
- Monday - Friday - 9am-5pm
- Full time position
- Permanent position
The role:
- The Laboratory Technician will provide technical support in a metallurgical laboratory, assisting with the preparation, testing and analysis of samples, operating laboratory equipment, and ensuring the smooth and safe functioning of the facility.
- This role involves working closely with metallurgists and other technical staff to conduct tests, record data, and maintain lab equipment.
- Assist in preparing metallurgical samples for testing and analysis.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Calibrate laboratory instruments and ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Perform bench-scale metallurgical tests, including hydrometallurgical testing to support R&D programmes.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, test results, and other relevant data.
- Collaborate with metallurgists and other team members in data collection and analysis.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the laboratory, following proper protocols for handling chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Assist in organizing and storing samples and materials.
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and policies in the laboratory.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of A-Level Science (chemistry preferred) or Degree/HND/HNC in chemistry, or relevant discipline.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Computer literacy is required to enter results.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Experience of working in a laboratory setting is preferred with experience in a chemical engineering, metallurgical or materials science environment advantageous.
- Desirable, but not essential: Familiarity with metallurgical testing methods and equipment.
